His Story

Joe grew up in sports, from swimming and private tennis lessons to basketball and track. Movement was always part of his life, but in college he intentionally avoided the expected path into exercise science or training. At the time, fitness felt too closely tied to image and vanity, and he knew that was not the work he wanted to build.

At 21, a lower back injury led to years of nerve pain, disrupted sleep, and days planned around how his body felt. After medical appointments and imaging, he learned that strength could alleviate pain, so he turned to the one discipline built entirely around strength: powerlifting. He became significantly stronger and more resilient, but while the pain became more manageable, it was never fully resolved.

That changed when he began working with a physical therapist who introduced him to movement beyond strength alone. Training across planes, restoring coordination, and addressing the body as a system helped him become pain free for the first time in years.  That experience reshaped how he views fitness and revealed how many people quietly manage pain, stress, and limitation.
